Someday a son

As I coughed my self to sleep late into the night I only hoped for at least a few hours of solid rest. When I woke up it was apparent that I had gotten the healing sleep that I needed and had a fun dream! My dream started out in the present but kind of a parallel universe kind of vibe. Here it goes…

A friend of mine had just had her baby and I thought it would be fun to visit. So I headed out towards their home. I currently live about 2 hours away from them so I also thought I would hit up a few other friends in that area on the way home. I got to their house, which I had not visited before, and pulled in. I wasn’t sure where to park because the drive way split in two and there were cars filling both shoot offs. I decided to park behind the blue car and hope that I wasn’t blocking anyone in. Since I was only there for a short visit I took the chance and walked up to the door and knocked. A sibling of the new father opened the door and let me in. There were a few siblings there and it was nice to catch up while we waited for the mother, father, and new baby to come out of the bedroom from a quick feed and change. It was all hugs and laughter as we visited and my mother also showed up to say hello to the new baby. The couple has another child that just turned two and he was proud to show us his new big boy bed and bedroom. After the visit, and I didn’t block anyone’s car thankfully, I headed over to the gymnastics center I used to work at and where my sisters currently work. When I arrived It was so natural but surprising that I myself had a child in the car. He was my own son and he was about one year old it seemed. We get out of the car and I carry him into the building to say hi to his aunties and some athletes I used to coach. I walked in and noticed that there were some safety violations concerning the rock wall in the room next door and I felt compelled to go in and take pictures. After I got the photos I went upstairs to the gymnastics center. It was nice to see everyone, it had been awhile. It was just like old times, I got to give an athlete an attitude adjustment and everything! When it was time to go I packed up my kid and heading back towards the rock wall. I set my son down on the mat for a couple of more pictures I guess, I had managed that rock wall program in the past. When done, I realized my son had accidentally knocked my drivers license an credit card into a drain that wasn’t there before. I could barely reach them. But I got them just before they went into the pipe. I grabbed up my son and walked out to the car. There was another mother with a child about the same age walking in the same direction and we got to chatting. It turns out we were parked right next to each other. It just so happens that we parked near a storm water drain. Here to my son was able to wiggle my drivers license and credit card out of my wallet and into the drain. This time was just as close a call as the first, but I was able to get my cards! Now we could load up and head home. It had just started snowing lightly when I pulled onto the road, and then I woke up.
